Lawrence Lessig

Lawrence Lessig is the Roy L. Furman Professor of Law and Leadership at Harvard Law School. He previously served as the Berkman Professor of Law at Harvard, a professor at Stanford Law School, where he founded the Center for Internet and Society, and at the University of Chicago. He clerked for the Hon. Judge Richard Posner on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and for Justice Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Lessig is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Association, and is an emeritus member of the board of Creative Commons. He has received the Free Software Foundation's Freedom Award and the Fastcase 50 Award, and was named one of Scientific American's Top 50 Visionaries in 2002. He holds a B.A. and B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. from Cambridge, and a J.D. from Yale.
