Aziz Rana

Aziz Rana is the J. Donald Monan, S.J., University Professor of Law and Government at Boston College Law School. Rana’s scholarship includes American constitutional law and political development, and he particularly considers how race, citizenship, and empire have influenced America’s legal and political identities. He is the author of two books, The Two Faces of American Freedom and The Constitutional Bind: How Americans Came to Idolize a Document that Fails Them.
Rana serves as an editorial member for multiple publications, including Dissent, the Law and Political Economy Blog, Just Security, and the Journal of American Constitutional History. He is a non-resident Fellow at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, where he contributes to their Democratizing Foreign Policy and Grand Strategy programs, and a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Before Boston College, Rana was previously the Richard and Lois Cole Professor of Law at Cornell University.
