Nicole Hemmer

Nicole Hemmer is an associate professor of history and director of the Carolyn T. and Robert M. Rogers Center for the American Presidency at Vanderbilt University. Her scholarship focuses on the role of conservative and right-wing media on American electoral politics.
Hemmer has published two books, Messengers of Right: Conservative Media and the Transformation of American Politics and Partisans: The Conservative Revolutionaries Who Remade American Politics in the 1990s. She has written for CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and several other national publications.
Hemmer is also a cofounder of the American Political History Conference. Before arriving at Vanderbilt, she was a research associate with the Obama Presidency Oral History Project at Columbia University and an assistant professor in presidential studies at the University of Virginia.
