Shirin Sinnar

Shirin Sinnar is the William W. and Gertrude H. Saunders Professor of Law at Stanford Law School. Her scholarship focuses on civil rights, national security, political violence, and terrorism.
Her writing has been published in leading law reviews, including the Harvard Law Review, Stanford Law Review, Michigan Law Review, Georgetown Law Journal, and California Law Review, and has received national recognition, including the inaugural Mike Lewis Prize for National Security Law Scholarship.
Before joining the Stanford faculty, Sinnar represented individuals challenging discrimination stemming from national security policies as an attorney with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area and the Asian Law Caucus. She has also served on the California Commission on the State of Hate and testified before Congress on anti-Asian hate violence.
