Katie Fallow, senior counsel at the Knight Institute, appeared on ABC News Live last night to discuss the First Amendment issues raised by the Dominion-Fox News defamation settlement.

The $787.5 million settlement should “deter Fox from broadcasting the kind of statements that Dominion alleged and the court found to be false, because of a standard set by the Supreme Court in New York Times v. Sullivan. It’s an important standard. News outlets and individuals should be able to talk about and criticize public officials or powerful corporations without fear of crippling lawsuits,” Fallow said.
