Prosecutorial Discretion Regarding Citations for Contempt of Congress
A United States Attorney to whom a contempt of Congress citation is referred retains traditional prosecutorial discretion regardless of whether the contempt citation is related to an assertion of executive privilege. The OLC does not provide release dates for its opinions, so the release date listed is the date on which the opinion was authored.
