Suspension of a United States Marshal
With the prior approval of the President, the Attorney General may suspend a United States Marshal without pay. During the period of a United States Marshal's suspension, the Attorney General may designate an Acting United States Marshal to carry out the duties of the office. The OLC does not provide release dates for its opinions, so the release date listed is the date on which the opinion was authored.
