Kate Ruane is the director of the Center for Democracy and Technology’s (CDT) Free Expression Project where she works on the intersection of civil rights and free speech protections, among other issues. Ruane previously worked at PEN America, the Wikimedia Foundation, the American Civil Liberties Union and the Congressional Research Service. Ruane received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and her law degree from American University, Washington College of Law.
